Sohel studied art and photography at the former Hyderabad School of Art. He later proceeded to London for higher studies in photography and art and worked there as a professional for six years.

On his return to India, he worked as a professional photographer in Bombay.

He became part of the Bombay art circle and pursued his creative instincts in the field of art, experimenting in various media.

After moving to Hyderabad, Sohel has developed an entirely new concept of presenting Relief Paintings. 

The material Sohel works with is Resin based, it becomes very hard on drying and is not effected by changes in environment. The Paints 
he uses are Oil paints.

Sohel believes that Birds & Flowers are the most beautiful elements in nature. Their beauty and movement of form are unparalleled.

Using his photographic eye, creativity and individual perception. He has captured the grace, delicacy and moving power of various exotic birds and wild flowers in a medium that is a combination of Relief and Painting. 

These relief paintings are semi-realistic in treatment and bring out the 3 dimensional beauty of the birds. Sohel builds up his compositions after creating volumes of sketches from the detailed study of the anatomy of birds.

Most of his paintings have been bought by leading business houses of INDIA, USA, UK and UAE.

Sohel has been sponsored by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (Govt. of India) for his inaugural exhibition in 1996. Since then he has held many solo exhibitions  in India.
